Fleurie, Morgon, Chénas and Saint-Amour sit within a short drive of Juliénas. Many domaines open by appointment; the tourist offices in Fleurie and Beaujeu keep current tasting lists. The third Thursday of November is Beaujolais Nouveau Day — book rooms early.
Rivers, markets and Lyon
The Saône is twenty minutes east for a riverside walk in Belleville or Mâcon. Weekly markets fill Juliénas and neighbouring villages with cheese, charcuterie and seasonal fruit. Lyon, forty-five minutes south, is the obvious evening city — bouchons, traboules, and the river quays.
